Inspirations: Production Design

Working on a long post about the production design in one of my favorite movies of all time. For now, quick shots of some of the best Mise-en-scène out there.

Synecdoche, New York

Production Designer: Mark Friedberg

(behind the scenes still of the main warehouse set)

“Even the room doesn’t care.”

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events

Production Designer: Rick Heinrichs

Vertigo

Production Designers/Art Directors: Henry Bumstead & Hal Pereira

Romeo + Juliet

Production Designer:  Catherine Martin

Brokeback Mountain

Production Designer: Judy Becker

2001: A Space Odyssey

Production Designers: Ernest Archer, Harry Lange, Tony Masters

This set just kills me. It’s perfect.

This is production design porn! Please keep it coming. Can’t wait to read your longer post about production design. Great job at finding some gorgeous stills.

2001: A Space Odyssey is just amazing! One of my own personal favourites.. The first movie I haven’t seen, maybe I should check it out – that is one killer living room. But as said before, very VERY good choices indeed.
