Chanel: Runway Design

What? Oh, nothing.

Just every Chanel Runway stage and set I could find, ever. EVER. So far, this is from 2008-ish to 2012. There’s a lack of runway photo coverage for 2006 and 2007 seasons, so we can cry about that together now.

Boo. Hoo.

The last few years of Chanel runway design has been eventful, that much can be said.

Here’s a quick laundry list of set Chanel set pieces:  farms with hay, giant statues of Chanel No. 5 bottles, entire walls covered in white tufted floral “puffs”, A GLACIER, smoking blast remnants and rubble, airports and jets and grass. Big whoop, I know, SOD was used, but grass is beautiful and kind of a pain to lay down in a place like the Grand Palais, I presume. Sometimes Lagerfeld prefers “simple” backdrops to his collections: Miami pools, the Venice beach boardwalk, Shanghai, the French Riviera, the gardens of Versailles…all, ahem, accessible places for mere mortals.

And that’s the show before you get to the clothes. Yes, the CLOTHES. Lots of other blogs cover the buzz around Chanel clothing, of course, so Google that stuff and have fun. Or don’t.

Here are the runway stages for Chanel. Enjoy.
