Don’t Look At The Moon Tonight

Cat Power is great. So great. I’m kind of angry with myself because I really didn’t fangirl-swoon over Ms. Marshall until recently, but I can catch up instead of miss out on her musical wares.

The other night I realized that Cat Powaaah/Chan has a special place in many people’s hearts: she’s the favorite ex-girlfriend. She might have ruined you – you didn’t know how much you loved her till she was gone. When you’re drunk and missing her, you hope she’s drunk and missing you. You’ve got a heartfelt, filled-to-the-pulp confessional love letter addressed to her but never posted. You’ve forgiven each other and feel warm when you hear she’s doing well…

Beauty.

Cat Power // Manhattan

Directed by Greg Hunt & Chan Marshall

ALSO: I just want to nerd out over Chan’s geometric sigil and the fact she used hot pink duct tape to mark it on her black leather.

The faded print on her denim jacket is also admirable/awesome/stunning/other superfluous positive words.

You know I’m down for watermelon pink tape and black leather. Two of the best materials on this planet.
